My Planned Route

World Map showing the full route

I plan to cycle from my home in Newquay, Cornwall to Australia over the course of two years. I will aim to break up the cycling over the summer seasons, taking a break during the winter of the first year.

Year One: Cornwall to Tbilisi, Georgia

Map of the Europe route

I plan to leave Newquay in May 2025. I'll cycle through Europe slowly through the summer, aiming to arrive in Georgia during the middle of autumn. I'll start by following the Velodyssée route through France, then head east towards Paris after arriving at Redon. I'll follow the Rennes river until it ends, then break off towards Rotterdam. After Rotterdam I will follow the Rhine until close to the Swiss border, where I'll switch to the Danube cycle path. I will follow the Danube through Austria, Slovakia, Hungary and Serbia before reaching the Black Sea. I'll follow the coast through Romania and Bulgaria before reaching Istanbul, where I'll try to meet other cyclists. I want to cycle through Turkey in a group, and see the Pontic Mountains. Hopefully by October or November I will reach Georgia, where I will start a ski season for the winter.

Year Two: Tbilisi to Australia

Map of the Asia route

After the winter in Georgia breaks and the weather starts to warm up, I'll leave and head towards Azerbaijan. There is a ferry in Azerbaijan which will take me across the Caspian Sea to Kazakhstan. From here I'll cycle to Kyrgyzstan and then to China. I'll spend the summer cycling through China, before arriving in Laos in the autumn. I'll go through Laos and into Thailand, making a short stop to see a friend. Continuing through Asia, I'll make it to Indonesia before catching a flight to Australia, where I will finish my cycle to Sydney.
